Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley is pleased to report significant progress in the agency’s first major capital campaign. As of September 2017, over $2.7 million in extraordinary gifts has been contributed to support facility renovations and wellness center operations. Fundraising continues to secure an additional $300,000 to $500,000 for building improvements that will enable HCLV to serve local families for years to come.

The Basilio Huertas Senior Center at 520 E. 4th Street
Donations received in support of renovations: $359,600

Renovations Complete: Upgraded and updated central meeting room, created private meeting offices, upgraded ADA-compliant bathrooms and entrance, installed industrial-grade kitchen

The Fowler Community Wellness Center at 502 E. 4th Street
Donations received in support of renovations: $2.1 million
Donations received in support of center operations and wellness programs: $250,000

Renovations Underway: Replace all building operating systems, reconfigure all internal spaces, reconfigure entryways, restore historical design features

Construction start: July 2017
Planned construction completion: summer 2018

Highlights: Establishment of the Fowler Community Wellness Center will enable leading Lehigh Valley non-profit organizations to collaborate in new and exciting ways to help residents impacted by poverty achieve the upward mobility at the heart of the American Dream. Renovations will create a “one-stop shop” for accessing:

Wellness Administration and Workforce Development
Estimated cost: $300,000 to $500,000

Renovations Planned: Create an inviting street front, garden and entryway. Install visual elements and directional signage to assist users of integrated wellness services with navigating between HCLV buildings. Repurpose vacated space for administrative offices and a workforce development and employment center.

The full scope of planned improvements and the construction start date will depend on funds raised.
